What I’d Tell You If You’re in the Middle of Building a Home

You don’t have to choose between a beautiful home and a functional one.

You can have both. You can create a space that’s thoughtful and practical, stylish and lived-in, curated and deeply personal. The two are not mutually exclusive—and you don’t need to compromise on either.

Decision fatigue is real.

At some point, the tile samples, hardware options, and paint swatches will all blur together. You’ll wonder if you're making the right call. You’ll feel exhausted. You might even want to throw in the towel.

That’s completely normal. Building a home is a mental marathon. Be gentle with yourself in the process.

Some people won’t get why you care so much about the details.

They might roll their eyes at the custom cabinet depth or ask why grout color matters so much. That’s okay. You’re not building it for them. You’re building it for the people who will live, grow, and make memories inside those walls.

You’re writing the checks—so you get the final say.

Don’t let anyone talk you out of your vision.

You’ve worked hard to be in this position. You’ve earned the right to make choices that reflect what matters most to you and your family.

You won’t get every decision right—and you don’t have to.

There will be a few things you wish you’d done differently. That’s just part of the process. The goal isn’t perfection. It’s building a space that feels like home—and that’s where the magic lives.

You’re not just designing a house.

You’re building a place for your family to land. A space where little feet will run down the hallways, holiday dinners will be served, and quiet mornings will unfold on the sofa.

That’s worth every hard choice.

If you're in the thick of it—overwhelmed, unsure, exhausted—I see you. And I promise: it will be worth it.
