After years of discussing it and waiting for the right moment (if there is such a thing), we finally closed on the perfect property in 2020.

We faced significant challenges getting started on our build. It took over six months to secure permits due to regulatory disputes between the city and county. After many painful months of back and forth, we began building our modern farmhouse in the spring of 2021.

Every aspect, from the floor plan to the finishes, was custom designed and selected by us. We are thrilled for our kids to grow up here and can't wait to continue improving the property.

Our story

In true Chip and Joanna Gaines fashion, we named our property Iris Acres. (And this reference will only make sense if you watched their show.)

For the 20 years before we became the owners, this property and the adjacent one operated as a working commercial iris farm. After the owner sold the business, the land was also put up for sale. There are still a few strips of irises thriving in the pasture, serving as a beautiful reminder of the land's history. Pretty cool, right?

We now operate our own small farm, consisting of Nigerian Dwarf goats, way too many free range chickens, barn cats, and our three faithful Great Pyrenees. It’s a bit of a zoo, but it’s the zoo I always dreamed about.
