in review: Christmas 2024
Now that the decorations are packed away, I’ve been reflecting on this past holiday season. Last year, I kept things simple and neutral—soft whites, creams, and browns with cozy textures. But this year, I was ready for something different. I wanted a holiday look that felt bold, modern, and felt like Christmas, I loved the change.
A Shift in Color: Embracing Red Again
After sticking to neutrals for so long, I found myself drawn to classic Christmas red. I incorporated bright, rich pops of it throughout my decor—red bows, red ornaments, and statement pieces that brought so much “festive” to our home. Pairing the red with gold accents, soft whites, and layered textures kept it feeling modern and fresh, rather than overly traditional.
Hosting this year felt extra special. I set the table with deep red napkins, simple yet elegant dinnerware, and a mix of candles to create a cozy, inviting feel. There’s something about a candlelit dinner with good company (and maybe a festive cocktail or two) that just makes the season feel complete.
This Christmas reminded me how fun it is to step outside my comfort zone. While I still love neutrals, adding bold color made everything feel extra festive. Who knows what next year will bring? Maybe I’ll go even bolder—or return to a cozy, neutral vibe. Either way, I’m already looking forward to decorating again….minus the dreaded cleanup!
